Editors letter

Dear Visitors,

Welcome to the re-launched website for ROGTEC Magazine, Russia and the Caspian’s leading publication for the upstream oil and gas market - a fresh and exciting portal promoting ROGTEC Magazine and covering the regions latest developments.

During a recent company meeting, we were all discussing how best to serve our faithful clients through a combination of directly targeted print media and online awareness. We had originally planned to revamp our existing website for 2007, but have decided instead to completely re-launch ROGTEC online, a dedicated site for each issue - emailed to our database immediately when each edition is ready.

We also felt that on-line viewers and advertisers alike would benefit massively by having access to masses of exciting regional information, all contained within one, easy to navigate site.

What are the benefits of this? And why would we send out a printed copy as well as an e-copy?
The answer lies, I feel, in how the Online/Print media advertising argument has panned out and been decided over the last decade or so. When the web boomed, online advertising was seen as the way forward and companies started changing their marketing strategies - pulling adverts left right and centre from print media in favour of new, seemingly more accessible and cheaper online marketing campaigns.

I was just starting out in the editing game back then and I remember thinking when it started that eventually the industry would do a full 360 and revert back to print media – the old favourite. In actual fact, most companies have adopted an approach that incorporates both, realizing that the majority of people were very reluctant to put down their hard copy newspapers and magazines, and our readers certainly agree; in a recent poll we conducted, the overwhelming majority said they would without doubt prefer to continue receiving their free hard printed copy. I agree; can you see Boris the Russian engineer powering up his laptop in -40 degree temperatures in the middle of the Siberian winter, to read his latest e-copy? I think not.

So to best serve our customers, ROGTEC Magazine will not only be the pre eminent free distribution publication in the region, but the most informative and far reaching “e-zine” the market has to offer.

Through our extensive experience in publishing, we realize the importance of client feedback and indeed in working closely together to create the best possible product we can. Amongst many other editorial projects, this year, we are putting out an industry wide call for papers. We are looking for technology driven, independently written articles focusing on the latest developments within Russia and the Caspian. The pick of these articles will be published in the printed edition of ROGTEC, and others will be posted in the technology section of our website. For more information on submitting editorial, and our editorial policy, please click here.

Not only do we realize the importance of feedback, we relish it. Since our first issue, we have received a number of emails, some full of praise, others with constructive criticism. We have listened to all of these comments and are now producing what we feel is the best written, best designed publication in the market.

Over the last 3 years, ROGTEC has developed into a great product that is distributed to the best regional database in the market. We feel, as do many of our clients that ROGTEC provides an unbiased, educational and exciting method of targeting all of the regional players and we will continue to work tirelessly today and everyday to ensure that ROGTEC continues to dominate the regional market for both our advertisers and readers.

As a testament to the success of ROGTEC, please link to comments and feedback from our advertisers.

Kind regards,

Nick Lucan
