The specialists of the JSC TATNEFT performed a considerable amount of work in 2012 to improve the environmental safety of crude oil production facilities.
At 2012 year end the JSC TATNEFT produced 947.5 km of corrosion resistant pipes and 6,159.6 tons of corrosion inhibitors. 968 wells were equipped with cathodic protection and electrochemical protection was provided for 1172.1 km of pipelines.
Special attention is given to monitoring the environmental conditions in the area of the Company’s operations, as well as to prevention and reduction of the adverse environmental impact of the crude oil production on all components of the ecosystem.
Chloride and petroleum products content in the major rivers of the oil-producing region of the Republic are stably maintained within the established limits as a result of implementing measures to protect water bodies. Taken alone the chemical analytical laboratory of UPTZH dlya PPD (Administration of water treatment for RPM) carried out 20,278 samples analyzes of surface water and drinking water sources during the year 2012.
Air condition monitoring in the settlements located in the area of the JSC TATNEFT’s activities is performed in accordance with the approved schedule. 13,058 air sample tests were made during 2012.
The integrated management system of industrial safety, labor and environmental protection of the JSC TATNEFT certified in 2006 successfully passed the recertification audit in 2012 for compliance with the international standards ISO 14001:2004 and OHSAS 18001:2007. The audit was performed by the experts of the JSC Bureau Veritas Certification Russia.
The Company’s achievements to ensure environmental safety at the crude oil production facilities in 2012 were honored by awards of federal and national contests. The JSC TATNEFT was recognized an absolute “ECOleader” in the Republic of Tatarstan for the 9-th time running, while the International Academy of Quality and Marketing awarded a prize to the Company for the 6 time running in the nomination “100 best companies of Russia.Ecology and Environmental Management” of the All-Russian contest.
