Welcome to the 9 th issue of ROGTEC oil and gas magazine, the leading upstream magazine for the Russian and Caspian oil and gas sectors. Firstly, we are all very pleased to be able to announce that ROGTEC oil and gas magazine has formed a unique partnership with ROSING, Russia's pre-eminent oil and gas engineers association. Doug Robson signed the agreement with Galina Mikhailova in Moscow. Vyacheslav Manyrin, President of ROSING, Russian Society of Petroleum Engineers, looks at trends of integration and modernization within the oil and gas market in Russia.

David Bamford, a members of the ROGTEC Editorial Board, discusses the key potential within Russia's exploration sector from the key provinces to the technologies they will need to utilize in order to maximize the regions potential. Mr A.V and V.D Sorokin of O-mega K look at in-situ oil classification. Salym Petroleum Developments, a Shell JV, discusses the use of smartwells at their Vadelyp oilfield and how the ESPs are being automated to ensure maximum recovery from the field. Vladimir Sledkov of LukOil looks at how to meet the challenges of automatic recognition of emergency contingency planning within geotechnical studies and how self learning neural networks can aim with risk planning.

ROGTEC oil and gas magazine also interviews Greg Schneider of Baker Hughes Centrilift looking at ESPs in the Russian and Caspian region. L V Vazenina and V M Tsibulskaya of the Foreign economic activities department look at the use of APG, associated petroleum gas and its effects in Russia and world wide. On the subject of LNG David wood and Saeid Mokhatab both of ROGTECīs editorial board, are looking at the need for strategic planning within the LNG supply chain. They also carry out a SWOT analysis of the international LNG supply chain.
