West Salym – Discovered 1987

From Autumn 2003, the basic field infrastructure facilities that have been constructed:

  • 50 kilometre all-weather road
  • 5 river crossings
  • Power line and transformer substations
  • Well pads
  • Production storage tanks
  • CPF
  • Warehouse
  • Field camps
  • Helipad

April 2004 saw development drilling begin and the first oils were produced in December 2004.

In August 2005, SPD completed construction of 88 km-long oil export pipeline from West Salym to Yuzhny Balyk. Three months later Salym Petroleum Development brought West Salym on stream. In December 2005, SPD produced the 100,000-th tonne of oil from West Salym.

In April 2006, SPD Supervisory Board decided to build a 45 MW Gas Turbine Plant at West Salym to generate electricity by utilising associated gas.

Upper Salym – Discovered 1966

2001-2003 – 6 x development wells drilled

Autumn 2004 – drilling operations started on a new pad where 16 new development wells are being drilled

Vadelyp Field – discovered in 1989

2005  - $12.3 mln US was allocated for engineering studies, seismic studies, feasibility studies and preparatory operations.

In June 2006, SPD started drilling first development well in Vadelyp, and in October 2006, SPD brought Vadelyp on stream.

The future:

  • Multiphase pipelines from Upper Salym and Vadelyp to CPF in West Salym
  • New infield pipelines
  • New well pads
