1st Russian Drilling Contractors Roundtable
A Unique Event Addressing the Key Technology and Purchasing Challenges Facing Russia’s Drilling Companies
The 1st RDCR took place on Thursday the 11th April 2013 at the Swissotel Karsnye Holmy in Moscow, and attracted over 200 delegates from Russia’s leading drilling contractors and technology companies from around the world. The event was a great success for all involved, and we would like to thank all of our sponsors, drilling contractor partners and indeed all attending delegates for supporting the RDCR in its first year. The welcoming address for Hall 1 was given by the hall moderator Mr. Anthony Cranny, from DSI PBL, and in hall 2 by Mr. Evegeny Rykov, Director of drilling at RU Energy Group. The RDCR attracted a host of technical and senior level delegates from Russia’s drilling community, including companies such as our co-Gold event sponsor EDC Group, plus drilling contractor partners INTEGRA DRILLING, WEATHERFORD, GAZPROM BURENIE, BSK RINAKO, RU ENERGY, INVESTGEOSERVICES, PNG DRILLING, KCA DEUTAG, NABORS DRILLING, CATOIL AG & SGK.
Hall 1 saw the RDCR Gold Sponsor EDC Group focus on their Rig upgrade and training programs, followed by presentations from Drillmec, Piper International, Cameron & Generation Drilling Equipment in the morning, and ABB, Tesco Corporation, McCoy Drilling and Completions, ISG Consulting and KatchKan Limited in the afternoon.
In Hall 2, RU Energy looked at their drill pipe purchasing requirements and challenges, followed by technology presentations from TMK Premium Services, Arnco Technologies, Castolin Eutectec and Harbanding Solutions by Postle Industries in the morning. In the afternoon Peter Van Welsenes from Salym Petroleum Development looked at their drill bit requirements, and was followed by presentations from the Russian Associations of Drilling Contractors, Tercel Oilfield Products, Burnintekh, Volgaburmash and Smith Bits.
The dates for the RDCR 2014 have been announced as the 26th & 27th March 2014 in Moscow. Following consultation with the drilling contractors and sponsors that attended the event this year, the RDCR 2014 will be run over 2 days and will include an expanded program of technology areas. Power Generation, Solids Control and Inspection & Maintenance are a few of the areas that will be added to the existing topics of Rigs and Equipment, Drill Pipe, Bits and Hardbanding.
You Spoke, We Listened
Doug Robson, Group Sales Director, commented “Our ambition for the RDCR is for it to become Russia’s premier drilling event, and this can only be achieved by close collaboration between ourselves and our drilling contractor partners, sponsors and delegates alike. Due to us reaching the venue capacity and the time limitations of a one day event, we had a number of disappointed companies and delegates this year who were unable to attend. We have gained invaluable experience during the process of organizing the 1st RDCR, and indeed have collated key feedback from the majority of people who attended the event. In response to this, we have expanded the program to run over 2 days and will be changing the format slightly to allow more interaction between the drilling contractors, technology vendors and the audience.”
Early Booking Recommended
This year’s event was sold out within 3 months of being announced, so early sponsorship booking and delegate registration is highly recommended.
