40 Years of the Largest Field of Gazprom Dobycha Urengoy LLC
June 17 marks the 40th anniversary of the commissioning of the integrated gas treatment unit No. 1AC (UKPG-1AC) of the Urengoy gas production department of the Gazprom Dobycha Urengoy Company. Since 1984, the field has been uninterruptedly producing and preparing for transportation of natural gas from the Cenomanian deposits, and since 1985, natural gas and gas condensate from the Valanginian deposits of the Urengoy oil and gas condensate field (UNGKM).
All these years, gas condensate field No. 1A (GKP-1A) has been intensively developing as a leader in the implementation of innovative ideas and technological solutions and retains its status as the largest in terms of the well stock, the number of technological lines of the low-temperature gas separation unit and gas pumping units.
Under the conditions of a drop in reservoir pressure, the first stage of the booster compressor station (BCS) was put into operation at GKP-1A in 1990, and the second stage of BCS-1AS with additional facilities (gas purification shop, inter-shop technological communications, commercial gas metering unit) was put into operation in 1997. . In 2015, DKS-1AV with a capacity of 80 MW was put into operation at UKPG-1AV. It compresses the decreasing wellhead gas pressure before supplying it to the low-temperature separation unit and maintains the operability of the well stock for the entire subsequent period of operation up to the design depletion of the field.
Over four decades, the fishery has undergone a number of changes, and a whole range of measures have been taken to improve the technological process. Many rationalization proposals have been tested and implemented here—modern production cannot do without it. One of the large-scale works in recent years is a project for separate-group reconnection of gas collection collectors with different parameters in order to ensure efficient operation of wells with different operational characteristics. The implementation of the project involves the separation of hydrocarbon flows from low-pressure and high-pressure wells, which makes it possible to maintain the nominal operating mode of the entire stock of gas condensate wells and maintain production volumes at a stable level.
As part of the long-term agreements concluded between Gazprom Dobycha Urengoy LLC and Gazpromneft-Zapolyarye LLC, work was carried out at UKPG-1AV to ensure the reception and treatment of gas coming from the facilities of Gazpromneft-Zapolyarye LLC.
The field team—233 people—ensures reliable operation of equipment and hydrocarbon production around the clock. Employees are also actively involved in sports; over the past three years, GKP-1A has become the USPU mini-football champion.
In his congratulations on the significant date, Alexander Koryakin, General Director of Gazprom Dobycha Urengoy LLC, noted:
“Behind the production numbers are the people and their craftsmanship. A huge amount of equipment, two complex gas treatment installations that are so different from each other in terms of technological parameters – all this requires professionalism, knowledge, experience, and the ability to quickly make informed decisions from the field personnel. And the team copes well with the assigned tasks. Veterans are being replaced by a younger generation of gas producers who are ready to continue the established traditions. I wish you further success, trouble-free work, good health, mutual understanding and well-being in families!”
