A Subsidiary of Belorusneft in Ecuador Produced 4 Million Barrels of Hydrocarbons
Belorusneft’s subsidiary in Ecuador has produced 4 million barrels of hydrocarbons since the start of the international project, BELTA learned from the company.
Initially, the interest was bilateral, since international cooperation in this format is an opportunity to expand professional competencies for Belarusian and Ecuadorian oil workers. According to the company, during the indicated period, about 4 million barrels of oil were produced, 12 wells were drilled at the field, and onshore infrastructure was created for the full cycle of hydrocarbon production.
The operating manager of the subsidiary, Andrei Tinchurin, clarified that work is being carried out at the mature Armadillo field, which is located in the eastern province of Napo. It was put into development back in 1997, but two years later production was frozen. In fact, thanks to the project, the field received a new lease of life. Literally from scratch, a complete infrastructure with access roads appeared on the site of the impassable jungle. Then 12 wells were drilled in two stages.
Oil production is currently underway at the field. The mission of Belorusneft is control and support, as well as selection and implementation of methods for maintaining production volumes and its intensification. As the company explained, the oil is heavy – there are no light fractions of hydrocarbons in this field. “Together with BelNIPIneft scientists, we are studying the conditions, adapting technologies, methods and techniques. And now we are actively seeking opportunities for further development of the field. There is a promising northern direction, or the northern Armadillo zone. According to the hydrodynamic model developed by BelNIPIneft specialists, there is a high probability of oil reserves here. Zone new, complex, but very interesting. And promising – right up to the construction of the platform and development of the northern part,” the company explained.
Belorusneft considers this direction to be promising. “Improving approaches and methods, increasing their efficiency and, in general, the joint contribution to the development of the oil industry of Ecuador and Belarus are important. Interaction in the public interest, exchange of experience allows us to solve complex production problems. In addition to production interest, representatives of the two countries at their level discover national identity two peoples, building good friendly relations,” the company emphasized.
The production association “Belorusneft” was created in 1966. The company searches, explores and develops oil fields, drills wells, produces oil and associated petroleum gas in Belarus, and works in the oil sector of other countries.
