  • Alaska Will Sue Due to Lost Revenues from Oil and Gas Sections

Alaska filed a lawsuit in court, demanding compensation due to loss of income that arose as a result of withdrawal by the federal authorities for the lease of oil and gas plots concluded under the administration of the former president D. Trump.
The staff published the corresponding claim document.

The fate of oil and gas plots located in the coastal zone of the Arctic National Reserve of Wildlife (AnWR) is the subject of trial in the US court.

According to the claim, Alaska could potentially receive significant income from royalties and other sources for the use of sites that were provided under the legislation adopted by Congress to develop mineral resources in order to ensure the country’s energy independence.
The staff has the right to royalties in the amount of 8.335% of the income received from oil and gas production under these lease agreements, which could bring several billion US dollars.
The state authorities note that these funds would have gone to the development of education, healthcare and increasing the well -being of the inhabitants of Alaska.

In 2021, by decision of the US Department of Internal Affairs, lease agreements issued by the administration of D. Trump were canceled.
The federal authorities did this, referring to serious violations in the sale of plots.
