  • Algerian Sonatrach Returns to Libya

The Algerian company said it was negotiating the resumption of work on assets in Libya.

Sonatrach from Algeria discussed with the Libyan NOC the prospects for resuming geological exploration in blocks 065 and 96/95 in the Ghadames basin in Libya. As the Algerian company clarifies, it is ready to begin work; all that remains is to sign the documents, which could happen in early November.

Sonatrach and NOC also intend to define plans for further cooperation.

Let us remind you that there are two executive bodies in Libya: the Government of National Accord in Tripoli (supported by the UN) and the interim cabinet in the eastern part of the country (supported by Khalifa Haftar’s Libyan National Army). Currently, oil production in Libya, according to OPEC, remains at 1.1 million bpd.
