  • An Ultra-Deep Well Was Put into Operation in South China

The well drilling depth is 9,508 m, horizontal displacement is 8,689 m

China National Offshore Oil Corporation (CNOOC) announced that the country’s first ultra-deep well, Enping 21-4, has been successfully brought into production offshore the Pearl River Estuary.

The drilling depth of the well is 9,508 m, the horizontal displacement is 8,689 m, the report says. The daily production amounted to more than 700 tons of oil.

“The well became the deepest offshore well in our country, setting a record for horizontal drilling in China. This indicates that China has successfully overcome the technical difficulties associated with drilling wells up to 10 thousand meters deep, and has advanced to the level of using ultra-deep drilling technologies on the shelf to the forefront in the world,” the material notes.
