  • Bashneft is Increasing its APG Utilization Capacity

Bashneft, a subsidiary of Rosneft, has completed the reconstruction of a gas pipeline to send associated petroleum gas (APG) from the Urshakskoye field to the Shkapovskoye gas processing plant in Bashkiria. As part of the reconstruction of the facility, a new gas pipeline was built, which will ensure uninterrupted supplies of hydrocarbon raw materials for processing in the amount of up to 50 thousand cubic meters per day. Gas transportation through the pipeline is now possible even if certain sections of the pipeline are stopped for repairs.

Construction of an additional gas pipeline 10.8 km long from the Urshak compressor station to the Raevka distributor in the Aurgazinsky district of Bashkiria will increase the reliability of the APG transportation system and ensure uninterrupted supplies of gas raw materials. Associated petroleum gas at the Shkapovsky GPP is processed into gas engine fuel, stable gas gasoline is a valuable raw material for the chemical industry and other products.

The construction of an additional branch of the gas pipeline has become an important step in the implementation of the Company’s target gas program aimed at reducing the environmental load. Thanks to the introduction of new technologies for cleaning, drying and compression, associated petroleum gas, which for many decades was considered a by-product of oil production in the industry, has become a valuable raw material.

The development of the Company’s gas business is in line with the global trend of using gas as a “cleaner” fuel. Implementation of the Program for increasing the rational use of APG reduces greenhouse gas emissions and improves the environmental situation in the regions of production.

Large-scale investments in the construction of gas pipelines, gas compressor stations and facilities for re-injection of petroleum gas into productive formations to increase their oil recovery allowed Bashneft to increase the level of rational use of APG by more than 400% over nine years. So, on the main – Arlan group of fields – it is 99%, on the Krasnokholmsk group of fields – 98%, which is the best indicator in the industry. In general, at the company’s fields in Bashkiria, this figure reached 96%, while the standard is 95%.
