  • Bashneft Reduced the Load on the Atmospheric Air by 8%

ANK Bashneft, which is part of NK Rosneft, has reduced the total load on the atmospheric air by 8% in 2020. This result was achieved thanks to the implementation of environmental projects and production modernization programs.

Preserving the environment for future generations is an integral part of Rosneft’s corporate culture and activities. The company aims to achieve leadership positions in minimizing environmental impact and sustainability of production.

The implementation of Bashneft’s gas program ensured a high level of rational use of associated petroleum gas in Bashkortostan – 96% (with a standard of at least 95%), and at the largest in the republic, the Arlanskoye field, this figure rose to 99%.

As part of the program, the infrastructure of gas treatment and delivery facilities was updated: a system of gas pipelines and multiphase pumping stations. In 2020, a reconstructed power plant was launched in the Duvan region of Bashkortostan, which involved an additional 750 thousand m3 of associated petroleum gas in production turnover per year.

The ongoing technical re-equipment of the Ufa oil refining complex will have an equally significant result in solving the problems of reducing the load on the atmospheric air: the construction of a backup process line for the elemental sulfur production unit at Bashneft-UNPZ, the construction of a desulfurization complex and a sour waste stripping unit at Bashneft-Novoil, reconstruction of the sulfur production unit, as well as the utilization and purification of decomposition gases of the AVT units at Bashneft-Ufaneftekhim.

In addition, in 2020, Bashneft accredited a high-tech air quality control system in accordance with the international standard GOST (ISO / IEC 17025-2019). The system includes an environmental protection laboratory with two automated atmospheric air control stations located in residential areas of the city of Ufa, adjacent to the industrial zone. New equipment with modern software and hardware quickly determines the content of pollutants, and the information received is automatically sent to the Ministry of Ecology of the Republic of Bashkortostan.
