  • Belarusian Oil Workers are Introducing a Smart Coupling into the Production Process

Belarusian oil workers have developed and are successfully introducing into the production process a new innovation proposal – a special BIM coupling, Belorusneft told BELTA.

How to speed up the technological process from the exit of the well from drilling to the start of hydraulic fracturing operations, to make it more efficient, was invented by the Well Technologies and Services Department (USTiS) of the central office. Their rationalization solution – a shoe initiating coupling (BIM coupling) makes it possible to eliminate the participation of an entire well workover team from the department for enhanced oil recovery and well repair in preparing the facility for multi-stage hydraulic fracturing using Plug&Perf technology.

A smart coupling is a metal pipe about a meter long with threads and clever filling, thanks to which the necessary operations are carried out efficiently. According to experts, the coupling is easy to use, quick and easy to install.

As the head of USTiS Denis Zakruzhny emphasized, pilot tests for the implementation of the BIM coupling were successfully carried out at wells No. 162 of the Marmovichskoye, No. 519 and No. 419 of the Rechitsa fields.

“Since the introduction of the rationalization proposal, BIM couplings have already been used in more than 25 wells and continue to be actively used, bringing an impressive economic effect to the Belorusneft company,” the company added.

The company clarified: the development took first place in the competition for the best rationalization proposal at Belorusneft in 2023.
