Belorusneft Carried out Hydraulic Fracturing Using a New Technology
Belarusian oilmen carried out hydraulic fracturing at the Rechitskaya area using a new technology, Belorusneft told a BelTA correspondent.
The innovation in the development of wells at the facilities of Belorusneft was of a pilot format. As Vasily Frolov, First Deputy Head, Chief Engineer of NGDU “Rechitsaneft” pointed out, this technique operates by analogy with the already existing technology of multi-stage hydraulic fracturing, however, it has a number of fundamental differences. First of all, they relate to technological elements, namely the type of fracturing fluid being injected.
“The scheme is characterized by interval acid injection, in which the cut-off of the previously completed stage and the perforation of the next one is carried out through tripping operations performed on a geophysical cable,” he explained.
The originally planned scheme for the development of these productive deposits provided for a long preparation, as well as time for the development of the well from drilling. Approximately it would take more than 40 days.
In the arsenal of “Belorusneft” there are already mastered methods for intensifying the inflow of well fluid by hydraulic fracturing using the multi-stage hydraulic fracturing technology with Plug&Perf. Taking into account this experience, the specialists of NGDU “Rechitsaneft” together with BelNIPIneft improved the fracturing technology with Plug&Perf. The proposed scheme with the injection of acid compositions significantly reduced the time.
The success of the operation was ensured by the employees of NGDU “Rechitsaneft”, BelNIPIneft, the Plugging Department and other divisions of the company.
“The improved technology can be used in wells penetrating carbonate reservoirs with the fracturing development method. Its further application will reduce the well development time and reduce the financial burden of the enterprise during the construction and commissioning of new wells,” the company shared its prospects.
The production association “Belorusneft” was founded in 1966. The enterprise conducts search, exploration and development of oil fields, drilling of wells, production of oil and associated petroleum gas in Belarus, works in the oil sector of other countries.
