Belarusian Oilmen Set a Record in Ecuador

Specialists from the Well Construction Management Center of the Rechitsaneft oil and gas production department of Belorusneft, together with Service Oil Ecuador Equaservoil S.A., have set a national record, BelTA was informed by Belorusneft.

The achievement concerns the successful completion of well No. 010R1 at the Armadillo Block 55 field in the Republic of Ecuador.

“A sidetrack with a diameter of 8.5 inches and a total length of 5,494.7 feet was drilled in a single section, and a production liner with a diameter of 7 inches and a total length of 5,671.91 feet was run. The national record was registered by the international organization Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE) Ecuador Section,” the company noted.

A significant role in achieving this milestone was played by the implementation of advanced Belarusian drilling technologies, as well as coordinated work of contractors and competent technological and geological solutions at every stage. The use of digital solutions was particularly important for setting the national record. This ensured round-the-clock remote monitoring, evaluation, and real-time adjustment of drilling parameters.

As emphasized by Belorusneft General Director Alexander Lyakhov, the company successfully cooperates with state enterprises in Ecuador. “First of all, this is the state company Petroecuador. We aim for this project, which once began with the initiative of the head of our state Alexander Lukashenko, to continue developing. It is important not only to achieve productive results in oil and gas production and economic efficiency, but also to create conditions for technology transfer between our country and the countries of Latin America,” he stressed.

The production association Belorusneft was established in 1966. The company is engaged in exploration, appraisal and development of oil fields, drilling, and production of oil and associated petroleum gas in Belarus, and operates in the oil sector in other countries. Today, Belorusneft employs more than 27 thousand people across three continents. The company has more than 40 types of activities, ranging from seismic exploration to the agricultural sector.
