  • Bentec: New Generation of Arctic Cluster Slider Rig Put into Operation

Major Russian client to benefit from superior and safe drilling performance

As part of a major contract for the supply of two rigs in Komi Republic in the north of Russia, Bentec was in charge of designing, manufacturing and delivering a new generation of its arctic cluster slider rig. Coming with a box-on-box substructure and a cantilever mast, the new design incorporates many new developments including lifting, header wagon, hot air routing and screw conveyor, and has a shared Variable Frequency Drive (VFD) for rig and drilling support module (DSM). Consequently, the rig’s weight and cabling could be reduced by 150 tons and 6 500 metres, respectively. The optimised weight and modular design allow for quick rig moves.

    Teamwork par excellence

The whole project was marked by the excellent teamwork of Bentec in Bad Bentheim, Germany, LLC Bentec in Tyumen, Russia, and our client. Substructure, mast and drilling support module (DSM) were manufactured by LLC Bentec in Russia. Additional equipment was sourced in Russia, for example, the generator set, screw conveyor and shakers. Bad Bentheim delivered all the main equipment including top drive, drawworks and Variable Frequency Drive (VFD).
It was thanks to the outstanding performance of Bentec’s subsidiary in Tyumen and this excellent teamwork that the rig went into operation in time.

    HSE a top priority

Another great success: there were no accidents, as our team is always working to one of our core values – nothing is so urgent or important that disregarding the Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) rules could be tolerated.
