  • Bloomberg Reports Possible 60-Day Extension of Chevron’s License to Operate in the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela

The administration of U.S. President Donald Trump is prepared to extend the license granted to Chevron Corporation for oil production and export activities in the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela by an additional 60 days, Bloomberg reported, citing sources familiar with the matter. The extension is being considered in the context of ongoing negotiations with Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro regarding the deportation of undocumented migrants and the fate of U.S. citizens detained in the country.

Chevron’s current license to operate in Venezuela is set to expire on May 27. Initially, the company was expected to cease all operations in Venezuela by April 3.

According to Bloomberg’s sources, an official announcement regarding the extension could be made as early as May 20. Around the same time, Richard Grenell, President Trump’s Special Envoy for Special Assignments, is scheduled to meet with members of the Maduro government on the island of Antigua.
