Canadian Shale Producers Promised to Increase Production by 8%
Canada plans to produce 350,000 b/d of oil from northern Alberta tar sands in 2025
Since the beginning of summer, wildfires and a field maintenance season have caused a decline in Canadian oil production, but companies have promised to increase production by 8%, writes Reuters. According to analysts, total production in Canada will rise to 175,000 bpd this year and 200,000 bpd next.
Production growth will be realized, among other things, through innovative solutions. For example, Cenovus is building a 17-kilometer pipeline that will link the Narrows Lake section to the Christina Lake plant, which will increase productivity by 30,000 barrels per day by 2025.
Step-out or tie-back technologies for connecting a new field with an existing plant significantly reduce costs and increase production intensity.
Total production from the northern Alberta sands alone in 2025 will be 350,000 b/d.
