  • China Increased Oil Production In January and February

    According to the State Statistics Administration of the People’s Republic of China, the country reduced coal production during this period.

    China is increasing oil production. This is evidenced by data for January and February published by the State Statistics Administration (SSA) of the People’s Republic of China.

    The volume of oil production for the specified period amounted to 35.11 million tons, an increase of 2.9% year on year. Oil imports also increased. China imported 88.31 million tons of this fuel, up 5.1% compared to the same period in 2023.

    During the period from January to February, the State Statistics Service reports, 41.7 billion cubic meters of natural gas were produced (an increase of 5.9%).

    At the same time, coal production in China fell by 4.2% year on year to 710 million tons. During this period, the country imported 74.52 million tons of coal (an increase of 22.9%).

    Electricity output by China’s largest enterprises grew by 8.3% in the first two months of this year, amounting to 1.49 trillion kWh. At the same time, the production of thermal energy increased by 9.7%, hydropower – by 0.8%. Nuclear energy production and wind energy production increased by 3.5% and 5.8%, respectively, solar energy – by 15.4%, reports the State Administration of China.
