Cubility: Appoint Brandon Buzarde as Vice President International Sales
Brandon Buzarde to focus on increased global sales growth for MudCube® solution in high value-driven, solids-control market as company also restructures senior management team
Cubility AS, an industry-leading provider of solids control solutions that dramatically improve efficiencies, solids control and HSE around drilling operations, has appointed Brandon Buzarde as Vice President, International Sales.
Brandon, who will be based in Houston, will be tasked with increasing sales growth for Cubility’s recently commercialized and innovative MudCube® technology and will lead a worldwide sales team comprising many of the industry’s top solids and drilling fluids experts.
In addition, as part of a restructuring of Cubility senior management, Tore Grelland – previously Vice President of Sales & Marketing – will take on a new role as Vice President, Business Development & Operations, where he will manage day-to operations and identify future customers and partners. Other changes include Arne Thomas Haaland, formerly Chief Operating Officer, who will become Vice President of Technologies where he will manage Cubility’s technology and R&D strategy; and Knut Haga who will move from Chief Technology Officer to Vice President of Projects.
The MudCube from Cubility provides a radical alternative to traditional shale shaker, solid control technologies with improved operational efficiencies, reduced solids management costs, better mud quality and significant HSE benefits with a safer and cleaner work environment. Cubility estimates savings through the MudCube of up to US$8 million per year on the average platform through reduced waste disposal, chemicals, maintenance and HSE costs.
Said Brandon Buzarde: “With the current low oil prices and focus on drilling efficiencies, the MudCube is redefining standards for efficient drilling fluid maximization and solids control treatment in what is a high value-driven market.”
He continues: “I look forward to reinforcing this compelling business case worldwide and building on our successes to date. To date, we have seen the MudCube adopted in the North Sea, Far East, North and South America and the Middle East and only just recently on the Johan Sverdrup field and Scarabeo 5 platform in the Norwegian Continental Shelf. I look forward to seeing these high value sales continue.”
Cubility CEO, Even Gjesdal backed up his words: “With the current market challenges, operators are needing to incorporate drilling and solids control efficiencies into their day-to-day operations like never before. That’s why we believe the MudCube remains the standout solids control solution on the market today. I’m confident that with my new leadership team, we have the products, technologies and capabilities for future growth – both now and in the future.”
Brandon comes to Cubility having spent the last four years at National Oilwell Varco (NOV) where he held a variety of roles including most recently Global Account Vice President – an executive sales role where he had a direct interface with NOV’s globally active customers at their highest levels of management and helped execute and drive strategies.
Other roles at NOV include Global Account Director, Off Site Solution Director and Offshore Project Sales. High profile projects Brandon has worked on include Exxon’s Hebron fixed platform, offshore Canada, where he proposed a complete drilling package on behalf of NOV and met multiple engineering challenges.
The MudCube is the industry’s first enclosed solids control system that eliminates the traditional process of shaking fluid and solids. Rather than relying on high G-forces to separate mud and the drilled solids as is the case with shale shakers, with the MudCube drilling fluids are vacuumed through a rotating filter belt using high airflow to separate the cuttings from the fluid more effectively.
The solids removal efficiency of the new system is often higher than 90% with improved separation capabilities leading to better quality mud and more efficient drilling, fewer chemicals required to maintain properties, less waste and more mud recycled back to the mud tanks for drilling reuse.
