  • Editors Notes: Issue 21 ROGTEC Magazine

    Dear Readers;

    Welcome to issue 21 of ROGTEC Magazine; another bumper show edition for NEFTEGAZ 2010 and indeed a more optimistic market place than the 2008 vintage. It´s hard to believe that the summer shows come around so quickly. This June has to take the prize for our busiest month as well; on top of our oil & gas commitments at the Caspian O&G exhibition, the EAGE show in Barcelona and NEFTEGAZ 2010, we have our new Power Generation title, PowerTec Russia & CIS Magazine, being showcased at the ATOMEXPO in Moscow and PowerGen Europe in Amsterdam. Some publishers would see some of these exhibitions as a bridge too far, but we stand by our commitment to trade exhibitions and look forward to seeing you all the various events.

    On the news front, it looks like Norway and Russia are on their way to solving differences over maritime boarders. Whilst not fully signed the agreement, which has eluded them for the last 40 years, is close to being finalized and could see a new spurt of offshore activity. With the US oil spill in the GOM sure to change the offshore industry for ever, what lessons can be learnt and technology employed to ensure such a tragedy does not repeat itself? I am sure I speak for everyone when I say that our hearts go out to the families of the victims of the Deepwater Horizon tragedy.

    Back to this issue of ROGTEC Magazine, and we have some great contributions covering important and cutting edge topics. With LUKoil seeing first production at the Yuri Korchagin field, ROGTEC looks at what technology they are using to enhance oil recovery at some of their most important fields. We also have ROSNEFT looking at efficient well workovers, TNK-BP at boosting frac efficiency, SPD at core sampling and our usual technology roundtable feature, this issue looking at PC Pumps. With construction also starting on Nord Stream, please turn to page 100 for an overview of this exciting project.

    Please enjoy our latest offering.
