  • Energistics: Transfer Protocol Read for Review

The Community Technology Preview (CTP) V2.0 of the Energistics Transfer Protocol (ETP) is now ready for review and comment. To download the CTP, please visit the ETP web page.

The ETP is the new data exchange specification that enables the efficient transfer of data between applications and systems. It defines a data streaming mechanism so that data receivers do not have to poll for data and can receive new data as soon as it is available from a data provider.

The CTP gives the community at-large the opportunity to review materials throughout the development process. ETP CTP V2.0 contains the following:

    • The UML model for ETP in two formats (the Sparx EA Project File and a more portable .xmi file that can be imported into most UML programs). This UML model contains the full suite of protocols intended for the Q2 release of ETP.
    • Documentation for the specification.
    • Avro schema files, generated from the UML model, for the data types and messages used by each of the ETP protocols.
    • Generated proxy classes for java, javascript and C# to allow serialization of the schemas. The instructions for installing and using these classes are in README files for each language.

Comments may be directed to Energistics. Reviewers are encouraged to test this protocol and return feedback to Energistics no later than 20 April 2015. ETP publication is targeted for June 2015.
