Equinor Starts Production Ahead of Schedule at Statfjord Ost
Norwegian energy company Equinor has started production at its Statfjord Ost field in the North Sea six months ahead of schedule after drilling new wells, expecting a cumulative production increase of 26 million barrels of oil equivalent, according to a company press release.
“Two new wells have been drilled … and three more are planned. Statfjord Ost is linked to the Statfjord C platform and the project includes the modification of Statfjord C as well as the laying of a new pipeline … to subsea wells,” says Equinor.
It is noted that production began six months earlier than originally scheduled. Equinor and its partners also expect Statfjord Ost to increase production by 26 million barrels of oil equivalent.
Statfjord Ost is an oil and gas field in the North Sea, discovered in 1977, production began in September 1994.
