  • Eriell Group Drills 29 Additional Wells for Achimgaz

ERIELL Group started drilling 29 additional wells in the Urengoi Oil and Gas Condensate Field, within the framework of a new agreement with CJSC Achimgaz. ERIELL Group is the general contractor and provides the services on a turnkey basis.

The agreement includes the construction of directional production S-shaped wells in Achimov deposits of the Urengoi Oil and Gas Condensate Field.

“Including the first phase, the total number of wells drilled for Achimgaz shall be 41 wells, which makes this project one of the largest in the Russian drilling services market,” – said Vitaly Dokunikhin, Executive Director, ERIELL Group. According to him, four drilling rigs will be operated in the field.

“In order to ensure accident free well drilling, the modern top drive drilling rigs have been chosen. That will enable us not only to minimize technical risks, but also to reduce the drilling time,” – also said Vitaly Dokunikhin.

The drilling shall be carried out under difficult geological conditions, aggravated by Achimov deposit abnormally high formation pressure of more than 600 atmospheres.

In this connection, ERIELL shall use state of the art technologies, such as: modern variable speed drive mud pumps, high-performance drilling bits and bottom-hole assemblies, corrosion-resistant stainless steel pipes, etc.

To enhance the field development efficiency, increase the hydrocarbons recovery, ensure the reservoir properties preservation, and to prevent wellbore drilling problems, we use inhibited polymer water-based drilling fluids. This will significantly increase the rate of penetration, prevent sticking, drilling problems, caving and borehole wall collapse, and ensure maximum reservoir productivity”, – said Pavel Korchagin, First Deputy General Director, Project Management, ERIELL Group, Russia.

Smart well technology is another major distinctive feature of this project. It includes a complex of underground equipment with built-in control system, control units and surface control station.

“In order to develop the hydrocarbon deposits under complex geological and technical conditions, the drilling people need modern drilling rigs, new drilling technologies, the deployment of which in the Achimgaz Project will allow us to improve the quality of drilling services, increase the reliability of wells as the capital construction facilities, and increase their productivity,” – added Pavel P.N.

For implementation of the project, ERIELL Group has engaged the leading service companies: Halliburton, Schlumberger, Baker Hughes, Weatherford, Wagenborg, MI-Swaco, Murubeni Itochi, Voestalpine AG, FMC Technologies, Corvet, NOV.

ERIELL Group intends to complete the construction of 29 wells within 2 years.

The Achimgaz Project is one of the largest joint international projects in the Russian Federation, scheduled for more than 40 years. According to CJSC Achimgaz, the field well stock will total 113 wells.
