  • Eritrea is Waiting for the Participation of Russian Companies in Oil Exploration

Eritrea hopes that companies from Russia will participate in oil exploration in the country, Ambassador of the Republic to the Russian Federation Petros Tseggai told RIA Novosti.

According to him, in Eritrea, the volume of oil reserves has not been fully studied so far, “it is necessary to carry out in-depth scientific and exploration work.”

“We hope that Russian companies will be happy to provide some assistance in working out this issue, especially after the visits of (Russian Foreign Minister Sergey) Lavrov to Asmara and the President of Eritrea (Isaias Afwerka) to Moscow,” he said.

At the same time, Tseggai added, “at the moment there are no substantive discussions.”

“… But we still hope to start work on this vector of bilateral relations in the near future,” he answered the agency’s question whether Russian businessmen are showing interest in oil exploration in the country.
