  • Expansion of Gazprom Neft’s License Portfolio Due to Flank Areas in the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous District

    Gazprom Neft received 5 licenses for geological exploration of the flanks * of explored and developed fields in the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous District. All new blocks will be developed by Gazprom Neft’s subsidiary, Gazpromneft- Noyabrskneftegaz. Licenses were issued for 7 years.

    In the Purovsky District of the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous District Gazpromneft- Noyabrskneftegaz will study the Novogodniy-2 blocks with an area of 552.6 sq. M. km, Zapadno-Yarainersky, whose area is 496.9 sq. km, as well as West-Ety-Purovsky and Privolny, with an area of 992.5 sq. km and 451.7 sq. km respectively. The licensed areas are the flanks of the Novogodnoye, Yarainerskoye, Ety-Purovskoye and Ravninnoye fields. Another new asset, Zhigulevsky, is located in the Krasnoselkupsky District of the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug and is the flank of the Kholmistoye field. The area of the plot is 362 sq. km.

    On the territory of the obtained license areas, 2 D seismic works have already been carried out . In 2021, to clarify the resource potential of the sites and form an optimal exploration program, research work will continue.

    “The November region of the Yamal-Nenets Autonomous Okrug is a landmark for Gazprom Neft. This is where our history began, and then it was the November enterprises that became the pivotal platform for the further promotion of the company to the Arctic. Most of Noyabrsk’s fields are currently at a late stage of exploitation, however, with the help of modern technologies and development methods, we maintain a stable level of production there. And thanks to the new blocks, we are creating a base for ensuring production in the region in the future, ” said Vadim Yakovlev , Deputy Director General for Exploration and Production of Gazprom Neft.

    * The “flank” mechanism implies the priority right of subsoil users to obtain prospecting licenses for areas of the unallocated subsoil fund in a 20-kilometer zone from the fields being developed. On the territory of the flank areas there should be no recorded reserves of hydrocarbons or solid minerals.
