ExxonMobil Has Found Another Offshore Field In Guyana
The company says it has discovered new oil in Guyanese waters. The discovery in question is called Bluefin in the Stabroek block offshore Guyana. This is the company’s first new find in 2024.
Stabroek is the main production area of a large field discovered by Exxon off the coast of Guyana in 2015.
The accelerated development plan means production will double to 1.2 million bpd by 2027, putting Guyana on par with Angola.
The Bluefin well encountered approximately 60 meters of hydrocarbon-bearing sandstone and was drilled to a depth of 1,294 meters, Exxon said in a statement.
Bluefin joins more than 30 oil fields in the Stabroek block since 2015, Bloomberg writes.
