French TotalEnergies Announced The Discovery Of Another Gas Field In Cyprus
French oil and gas company TotalEnergies today announced the successful completion of drilling and production testing of the Cronos-2 appraisal well in Block 6 offshore Cyprus. TotalEnergies owns a 50% stake in Block 6 along with Italy’s Eni (50% operator).
Production testing of the Cronos-2 well confirmed the presence of significant resources and production potential in Block 6 and will expand the Cronos-1 field drilled in August 2022, the company said. The Cronos-2 well is located approximately 160 km southwest of the coast of Cyprus.
Two more discoveries, Calypso-1 and Zeus-1, were made on the same block in 2018 and 2022.
“The company will conduct a full assessment of the discovered resources to determine the best development option that will facilitate gas supplies to Europe and the region,” said Julien Pouget, senior vice president of exploration and production for TotalEnergies Middle East and North Africa.
In Cyprus, the French TotalEnergies also has shares in offshore blocks 11 (50%, operator), 7 (50%, operator), 2 (20%), 3 (30%), 8 (40%) and 9 (20%).
