French TotalEnergies Discovers New Ntokon Oil And Gas Field

The Ntokon oil and gas field was discovered in the OML102 block offshore Nigeria, the press service of TotalEnergies reports.
Well Ntokon-1AX:
- located in shallow water, 60 km from the southeast coast of Nigeria;
- found:
- lateral wellbore Ntokon-1G1: – discovered an oil deposit with a thickness of 73 m;
– successfully tested;
– maximum productivity – about 5 thousand barrels per day of oil with a density of 40 ° API.
It is planned that Ntokon will be developed with reference to the infrastructure facilities of the Ofon field, located 20 km away on the OML102 block. Total Energies EP Nigeria owns a 40% stake in OML 102 block, with the remaining 60% held by Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC Ltd).
TotalEnergies has been present in Nigeria for over 60 years.
In 2022, the company produced 204 thousand boepd in the country.
Recall that on July 25, 2022, TotalEnergies announced the start of production at the Iquique field in Nigeria:
- Located in the north of the oil and gas block Oil Mining Lease (OML) 99, about 20 km from the coast of Nigeria;

- The license for the development of OML 99 belongs to a joint venture (JV), which includes Total E&P Nigeria (40%, operator) and NNPC – 60%;

On May 29, 2023, the company extended its license for 20 years, allowing it to continue producing hydrocarbons in the OML130 block offshore Nigeria. The OML 130 block includes the Akpo and Egina deepwater fields, as well as the Preowei field.
