  • From a Little room in a Hut to One of the Leaders of Russian Oilfield Services – How Tatneftegeofizika Developed

Seventy years ago, on January 16, 1953, the trust “Tatneftegeofizika” was established by order of the Minister of the Oil Industry of the USSR Nikolai Baibakov. This date has become a starting point for Tatarstan field geophysics. The Devon news agency learned about this from a report by Tatneft.

Officially, the enterprise was called the State Union Tatar Geophysical Trust Tatneftegeofizika. The young enterprise faced a difficult and important task – providing geophysical information to newly discovered fields of Tatarstan oil.

The establishment of the trust coincided with the start of industrial development of the supergiant Romashkinskoye field. It was necessary to speed up exploration work as much as possible and begin preparations for drilling new areas. From the first days, a course was taken for the widespread use of the latest methods of geophysical research.

Initially, the geophysical expedition was organized on the basis of four parties of the Bugulma field geophysical office, located in the working settlement of Almetyevo (future Almetyevsk). It was led by Fatkulla Mugallimov. The apparatus of the trust is located in one room with an area of 6 square meters. meters in a wooden house.

In the same year, the expedition was transformed into an independent field and geophysical office under the leadership of Anatoly Yarmin. In 1955, the front-line soldier Vsevolod Tsvetov headed the Almetyevsk field and geophysical office. On his shoulders lay the organization of the coordinated work of all departments of the office.

From 1978 to 1998, the enterprise was headed by Ulfat Maganov, a bright representative of the galaxy of the first geophysicists-commercial workers of the republic (you can read about his work biography in the material of the Devon News Agency). This period is characterized as the time of active introduction of methods and equipment for geophysical control of oil field development, transition to digital registration of materials of geophysical surveys of drilling wells (GIS).

In the 2000s, geophysical surveys of injection wells were expanded in a non-approach way. This made it possible to solve the problem of increasing the well logging coverage factor of the injection well. The equipment was also modernized and full computerization was carried out. Today, Tatarstan geophysicists are implementing new projects. They develop geo-navigation services, conduct geological and technological research, etc.
