Gazprom and Shell Expand Cooperation
Today, PJSC Gazprom and Shell concern signed a Strategic Cooperation Agreement for a period of five years. The signing ceremony took place via video conference in the presence of Alexey Miller, Chairman of the Gazprom Management Committee, and Ben van Beerden, Chief Executive Officer of Royal Dutch Shell plc.
The signed document expands the interaction of companies. Particular attention will be paid to such areas as the study of energy markets, the implementation of projects along the entire value chain, cooperation in the digitalization of technologies and the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions.
Alexey Miller and Ben van Beurden discussed the current achievements of cooperation between Gazprom and Shell. In particular, they talked about the Sakhalin-2 project. At the end of last year, the project produced and shipped to customers a record volume of liquefied natural gas – more than 11.6 million tons.
Special attention was paid to the issue of decarbonization of European energy. It is noted that due to its ecological properties, natural gas can play a significant role in achieving the climatic goals of Europe .
“Today we have taken a new step in the development of our cooperation. The very fact of signing this agreement speaks of the good results of our joint work and that we are setting ambitious goals for the near and long term. Without a doubt, the accumulated experience is the key to our achievements in the future, ”said Alexey Miller.
