Gazprom Drilling: Completed Construction the Longest ERD Well in the Cenomanian in Russia
Gazprom Drilling completed construction of a unique high-tech well No. 1208 of the Semakovskoye gas condensate field located on the northern coast of the Taz Peninsula in the polar part of Western Siberia (most of the area is confined to the water area of the Taz Bay).
The well has a design bottomhole of 3,663 m with a vertical depth of 879 m and a vertical deviation of 3,045 m. Today it is the longest ERD (Extended reach drilling) well in Senoman in Russia (ERD ratio 3.46).
Prior to that, the maximum length belonged to the Yurkharovskoye gas condensate field with a design bottomhole of 3168 m with a vertical depth of 1104 m and a vertical deviation of 2482 m (ERD coefficient 2.24).
As part of the project, the drilling company is to hand over to the customer LLC RusGazAlliance – 19 production wells in 2022 with extended reach and a horizontal section up to 4400 meters long under the water area of the Ob Bay. Wells are being constructed on the PK-1 reservoir (Cenomanian reservoir).
Drilling out the Semakovskoye field is a unique project being implemented in remote areas and lack of infrastructure.
The implementation plan for this project provides for work in autonomy most of the time, communication with objects will be carried out during the period of winter roads and summer navigation.
The project uses the most high-tech equipment used in well construction, including the ZJ-50 DBS drilling rig, upgraded to the echelon type, as well as the ZJ-70 drilling rig, equipped with a top power drive, a four-stage cleaning system and a computerized drilling control system.
To improve drilling efficiency at the Semakovskoye field, a rotary control system (RSS) is used, which allows you to maintain optimal drilling parameters and obtain high-quality geosteering data in real time.
The Semakovskoye field is located in a water protection zone, which requires the maximum level of organization of the drilling process in accordance with the requirements of the environmental legislation of the Russian Federation. In this regard, the field uses pitless drilling and cuttings utilization technology. Drill cuttings undergo a dehydration procedure with the use of UMOSH, which allows to reduce the moisture of the drill cuttings as much as possible.
Commercial gas production will begin at the field in 2022.
