Gazprom Nedra has Completed the Construction of a Prospecting and Appraisal Well in the Kara Sea
The jack-up drilling rig “Arctic” was demobilized to its winter mooring site in the port of Murmansk
The Gazprom Nedra company has completed the construction of a prospecting and appraisal well in the Kara Sea using the Arkticheskaya jack-up drilling rig. Currently, the platform has been demobilized to a winter mooring site in the port of Murmansk, the company’s press service reports.
As a result of well testing, an industrial flow of gas was obtained from the productive formations, corresponding to the planned indicators. This is the second project implemented by Gazprom Nedra LLC in 2023 in the Arctic.
In the summer, an exploration well was drilled and tested in the Barents Sea using the semi-submersible floating drilling rig (SSDR) “Northern Lights”, which resulted in an increase in proven hydrocarbon reserves.
During the construction of both wells on the Arctic shelf, core material was selected and a wide range of geological and geophysical studies were carried out. The obtained data will be provided to the State Reserves Commission for inclusion in the state balance sheet.
The Project 15402M jack-up drilling rig “Arctic” was built in 2012 at the ship repair plant “Zvezdochka Ship Repair Center” in Severodvinsk for Gazprom Flot LLC. It is designed for drilling exploration and production wells for oil and gas on the continental shelf to a depth of up to 6.5 km, at sea depths from 7 to 100 m, waves up to 15 m and wind speeds up to 45 m/s.
The platform is supported by three support columns with a height of 139 m. At the bow of the platform there is a residential complex and a helipad. The overall width of the jack-up rig (with a helipad) is 77 m, the overall length in the stowed position is 101 m.
