  • Gazprom Neft Began Transporting Goods in the Arctic by Unmanned Vehicles

The first unmanned KAMAZ trucks went on flights at the Vostochno-Messoyakhskoye field, located on the Gydan Peninsula of the YaNAO. Trucks transport goods along a 140-kilometer winter road connecting the autonomous oil field with the village of Tazovsky. The use of unmanned vehicles will increase the efficiency of the logistics of the company’s northern fields and increase the volume of supplies of the necessary equipment and materials.

The high safety of unmanned cargo transportation is ensured by the navigation satellite system. Vehicles are equipped with several types of sensors that build a digital road map, scan objects in the frontal zone, recognize obstacles within a radius of 200 meters, and detect static and moving objects.

They control the unmanned column using Russian software. After the closure of winter roads, high-tech trucks will continue to work at facilities where ground transportation does not stop during the summer.
“Digital projects today make up a significant part of Messoyakhaneftegaz’s technology portfolio. With the help of artificial intelligence, we design and build wells, control the safety of equipment operation and the state of permafrost, and implement digital twin systems for the production of difficult oil in the Arctic. The entry of unmanned vehicles to the Arctic lines is another milestone in the digital history of the country’s northernmost mainland oil field.”
Alexey Kan – CEO of Messoyakhaneftegaz

“We created the necessary infrastructure, together with the developers tested and finalized unmanned systems and the transport itself, formed the regulatory framework, and trained employees. Now we are starting a new phase. In 2023, we will be ready to provide unmanned transportation services not only to Gazprom Neft, but also to other Russian industrial companies.”
Dmitry Potapov – General Director of Gazpromneft-Snabzheniya
