Gazprom Neft: Confirms High CDP Climate Rating
Gazprom Neft retained its leading position in the international ranking of the Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP), the most authoritative study on indicators of climate responsibility. Based on the results of an independent assessment, Gazprom Neft received a B category rating (on a scale from A to D-), which corresponds to the company’s assessment last year, as well as the level of leading international oil and gas companies. The high level of the rating was confirmed by Gazprom Neft due to high-quality disclosure of information on emissions, as well as initiatives to reduce them.

In 2021, the CDP study included more than 13 thousand companies (of which 71 are Russian), including 249 companies from the oil and gas sector. Gazprom Neft’s position in the rating corresponds to the level of international oil and gas companies. In 2021, Gazprom Neft set a new goal – to reduce the carbon intensity of its operations by 30% by 2030 compared to the 2019 level. The company plans to achieve this reduction through diversification of production, implementation of a large-scale program to modernize oil refining assets, the development of hydrogen technologies and technologies for capturing and storing CO2, as well as renewable energy projects.
As part of its development strategy, Gazprom Neft is integrating the principles of sustainable development into its operations with the aim of becoming a benchmark for efficiency, safety and manufacturability. Gazprom Neft annually publishes a Sustainable Development Report, supports the implementation of the Paris Agreement aimed at combating climate change, and is also a party to the UN Global Compact, the largest international initiative in the field of sustainable development and corporate social responsibility.
