  • Gazprom Neft Expands the Search Cluster in the South of Yamal

Gazprom Neft received a license for the Saletsky site in the water area of the Obka Kara Sea. The asset will become part of the exploration cluster, which combines a group of mainland and shelf sections in the area of the Novoportovsky field in Yamal.

The license for a geological study of the Saltinsky site was issued by Gazprom Neft on a declarative principle for 10 years. The area of the asset is 450 square meters. km. On the site there are no accounted supplies of oil and gas.

The Saletinsky site adjacent to other search objects of the company-the mainland South Novobortovsky and the harsh, as well as the South Oobsky site in the Avtskoye Lyun. These assets are located near the Novoportovsky deposit – one of the largest Gazprom Neft mining centers on Yamal with developed production and logistics infrastructure.

In the next two years, Gazprom Neft will develop a program of geological study of a new site. It is planned to drill a search and assessment well, as well as a 2D seismic exploration and a 3D electro-exploration. The operator of exploration will be Gazpromneft-Geo.

“We have been engaged in a comprehensive study of new sites in the south of the Yamal Peninsula since 2019. According to experts, the geological potential of this zone can be comparable to the reserves of the Novoportovskoye field, one of the largest in the region. Modern technologies and work experience of Gazprom Neft in the Arctic zone will help us in the study of mainland and shelf plots in this region. In case of success, South Yamal assets will become the basis for the further development of a large-scale Novoport cluster. ” – Yuri Masalkin, Director of Geological Bueau and Development of the Resource base “Gazprom Neft”
