Gazprom Neft Has Renamed “GPN-Middle East Projects” to “Western Asia”
The subsidiary of Gazprom Neft, Limited Liability Company GPN-Middle East Projects, has been renamed Limited Liability Company Western Asia. The name change was registered on May 7, according to data from the Unified State Register of Legal Entities of the Russian Federation (EGRUL).
Gazprom Neft established GPN-Middle East Projects exactly five years ago, in May 2020. In 2023, the company formally acquired the 50 percent stake previously owned by Shell in the Salym project. The remaining 50 percent stake was already held by Limited Liability Company GPN-Salym Projects.
The Salym project is a major production and geological exploration initiative located in the Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug. It involves the development of the Salym group of oil fields, which includes the Western Salym, Upper Salym, Vadelip, Southern Yamskoy, Eastern Shapkinsky, and Salym-2 fields.
The recoverable oil reserves in the C1 + C2 categories for the Salym group of fields, as certified by the State Reserves Commission of the Russian Federation, amount to 140 million metric tons.
