  • Gazprom Neft Is Expanding Its Production Center In Eastern Siberia

Gazprom Neft has begun developing the Chonsky cluster, the largest undeveloped group of areas in Eastern Siberia with geological reserves of over 1.7 billion tons of oil and 500 billion cubic meters of gas. The implementation of the project will ensure long-term supplies of hydrocarbons to the markets of the Asia-Pacific region.

The Chonsky cluster includes the Ignyalinsky, Tympuchikansky and Vakunaysky areas on the border of the Irkutsk region and Yakutia. The assets are located next to the Eastern Siberia-Pacific Ocean oil pipeline and the Power of Siberia gas pipeline. The plots of the Chona group are located on an area of over 6,800 square meters. km. They are significantly removed from large cities and logistics centers. The project is being implemented in harsh climatic conditions: in the winter months, the air temperature drops below 50 degrees Celsius.

In 2023, the first multilateral well of the fishbone design was launched at the Ignyalinskoye field, and previously drilled wells were reactivated. For early production, mobile well development complexes were used. Compact, easy-to-assemble equipment made it possible to begin shipping hydrocarbons before the launch of the main infrastructure. Currently, the extracted raw materials are delivered by road to the oil treatment facility at the neighboring Chayandinskoye field. From there, hydrocarbons are shipped towards the ESPO system. Since last year, accumulated production at the Ignyalinskoye field has exceeded 130 thousand tons.

In 2024, Gazprom Neft will drill two high-tech oil wells at the Ignyalinskoye field and six gas condensate wells at the Vakunaiskoye and Tympuchikanskoye fields. The infrastructure complex being created by the company will include installations for oil treatment, integrated gas treatment and condensate stabilization, an acceptance and delivery point, an energy center, an oil and gas transportation system and other facilities. Hydrocarbons from the Chonsky cluster will be supplied to markets in the Asia-Pacific region.
