Gazprom Neft Joins the Arctic Economic Council
Gazprom Neft has become an official partner of the Arctic Economic Council, an independent international organization created to address global challenges in interstate cooperation, sustainable development and environmental protection in the Arctic. The council includes national and international corporations, small and medium-sized enterprises, as well as associations and associations of indigenous peoples of the North.
Gazprom Neft possesses competencies and significant experience in implementing successful projects in the Arctic region and is ready to offer its expertise to partners for the exchange of best practices.
The company’s participation in the work of the International Arctic Council and building long-term business relationships with partners is fully consistent with Gazprom Neft’s strategy. Thus, over the past decade, the company has commissioned three large fields: Novoprotovskoye on the Yamal Peninsula, Vostochno-Messoyakhskoye on Gydan and Prirazlomnoye on the shelf of the Barents Sea. The company is effectively developing Arctic logistics for the transportation of oil of unique grades ARCO and Novy Port, which routes pass, among other things, along the Northern Sea Route.
Another area of the Council’s work is ensuring sustainable development of the Far North and including the interests of indigenous peoples in the international business and social agenda. In turn, Gazprom Neft is consistently implementing a strategy to support and cooperate with the indigenous peoples of the North, Siberia and the Far East. One of the tools with the help of which the company implements socio-economic projects, develops the regional infrastructure of the Arctic territories of its activity is socio-economic agreements with regional and municipal authorities.
