Gazprom Neft Neural Network has Found New Oil Reserves in Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug and the Tomsk Region
The Gazprom Neft neural network has found new hydrocarbon deposits in the Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug and the Tomsk Region at the Vakhskoye field. According to preliminary estimates, their initial recoverable reserves are at least 100,000 tons of oil. Hydrocarbon inflow has already been obtained from the found reservoirs.
The digital program uses machine learning algorithms to process hundreds of gigabytes of data from live wells. In them, she finds patterns and determines where oil can be located that was not previously detected by traditional methods.
It takes only a few minutes for a neural network to process data from 1000 wells. The program takes into account the entire volume of geological and geophysical information accumulated by the company over many years. Based on this data, artificial intelligence determines the possible location of new hydrocarbon deposits in already developed fields. For their production, additional infrastructure is practically not needed – it is enough to tune existing wells.
In 2019, the digital system found additional oil reserves at the Vyngapurovskoye field in the YaNAO. Now the neural network is being used at the company’s assets in the Tomsk Region, Khanty-Mansiysk and Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrugs.
