Gazprom Neft: Replenished Production with New Reserves by 283%
In 2021, Gazprom Neft’s total proven and probable reserves, including its share in joint ventures, reached 4.1 billion toe.
At the end of 2021, the proven reserves (proved, 1P) of Gazprom Neft hydrocarbons according to international PRMS standards increased to 2.27 billion tons of oil equivalent, which is 6.8% higher than last year. The level of replacement of production with new reserves amounted to 283%. The audit was conducted by an independent international consulting company DeGolyer and MacNaughton.
Gazprom Neft has expanded its resource base through successful exploration and additional exploration of assets in Western and Eastern Siberia. Including – due to the Alexander Zhagrin field in Khanty-Mansiysk Autonomous Okrug-Yugra, the recoverable reserves of which since the discovery in 2017 have grown almost 20 times by the end of 2021. A significant contribution to the development of the resource base was made by fields developed by the company on the basis of long-term risky operator agreements with PJSC Gazprom and its subsidiaries. So, last year, separate sections and layers of the Urengoyskoye and En-Yakhinskoye fields were included in the audit.
In 2021, Gazprom Neft discovered 32 deposits with recoverable reserves of about 50 mmtoe. The Company continued to implement technologies and approaches that reduce the carbon footprint and impact on regional ecosystems in both mining and exploration projects. In 2021, Gazprom Neft expanded its use of the environmentally friendly Green Seismic exploration technology, surveying about 1,000 sq. km in KhMAO-Yugra and the Tomsk region. Since its introduction in 2017, Green Seismic has helped save over 6 million trees.
Last year, the company received 6 new licenses, including for the Krasnorechensky field in the Orenburg region, three licenses for the study of underlying horizons and flank assets in the Khanty-Mansiysk Autonomous Okrug-Yugra, YaNAO and Orenburg region, as well as the industry’s first licenses for the development of technologies for prospecting and production of hard-to-recover stocks. Technological testing grounds for testing innovative solutions are being created by the company at the Palyanovskiy and Salymskiy 3 sites in Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug-Yugra.
“In 2021, Gazprom Neft’s production for the first time surpassed the milestone of 100 million tons of oil equivalent. Consistent development of the resource base became the basis for many years of production growth. The reserves that we increased last year are located near the existing assets of Gazprom Neft and will be brought into development in the near future.”Vadim Yakovlev Deputy Chairman of the Management Board, Gazprom Neft
“2021 has been one of the most successful years in the history of the company for the replacement of hydrocarbon reserves: despite record production, they for the first time exceeded the mark of 4 billion tons of oil equivalent. This is based on the high efficiency of Gazprom Neft’s additional exploration programs in Western Siberia, as well as the inclusion of large new assets in the audit. Modern exploration technologies, consistent and systematic work with the portfolio create the basis for achieving the company’s strategic goals.”Yuri Masalkin Director for Geological Exploration and Development of the Gazprom Neft Resource Base, General Director of Gazpromneft-Geo
