  • Gazprom Neft Strengthens Cooperation With Russian Universities

In Tomsk, the Science and Technology Center of Gazprom Neft brought together representatives of 13 major Russian universities, in partnership with which the company develops technologies for the oil and gas industry, at a communication session.

At the communication session, universities presented their development strategies and plans to create innovative products jointly with Gazprom Neft. In particular, the Administration of the Tomsk Region and the Tomsk Polytechnic University, together with the company, will continue the project to create a technology for finding hard-to-recover oil reserves in the deposits of the pre-Jurassic complex and cooperation in the field of geothermal energy.

Among the scientific partners of Gazprom Neft are universities from St. Petersburg, Moscow, Tyumen, Tomsk, Novosibirsk, Tatarstan, Bashkiria and other regions. Among the areas of cooperation are the creation of new heavy-duty composite materials, engineering solutions for the Arctic territories, modern methods of enhanced oil recovery at mature fields, as well as other projects relevant to the industry.
Universities act as a multidisciplinary partner of the company and fulfill all types of business orders: from laboratory and engineering services to research projects and educational programs. In particular, Gazprom Neft conducts training with universities at 16 joint master’s programs.

“The creation of Russian innovative solutions requires a large-scale involvement of the intellectual potential of scientists working outside of just one industry. Therefore, we involve not only industrial experts in solving technological problems, but also our partners from other industries, representatives of academic science and start-ups. We identify competencies in each of them that are important specifically for our technological challenges, and then test the proposed solutions at our fields. In this way, we get technological products that are in demand by consumers, ready for replication.”
