Gazprom Neft will Develop Hydrogen Technologies
Gazprom Neft joined the Council of Industrial Partners of the Technological Hydrogen Valley consortium. The company will participate in projects to develop technologies for the production, transportation, storage and use of hydrogen, as well as the utilization of carbon dioxide. Today, Gazprom Neft already produces more than 100 thousand tons of hydrogen at its technological sites, and the plans are to reach 250 thousand tons by 2024.
The Technological Hydrogen Valley consortium was created in Russia in November 2020 at the initiative of universities in cooperation with the Russian Academy of Sciences with the support of executive authorities and industrial companies. In addition to Gazprom Neft, other large Russian companies have become industrial partners of the consortium: SIBUR, Russian Railways, Severstal, Transmashholding, Rosatom, TMK and others.
The key regions for the consortium will be the Tomsk, Sakhalin, Samara regions, as well as the city of Chernogolovka, Moscow region. It is planned that in 2022 the first pilot projects in the field of hydrogen energy and specialized educational programs for training engineers and researchers may appear in these territories.
