Gazpromneft-Noyabrskneftegaz Opens New Promising Areas in the Yamal-Nenets Autonomous Okrug
Gazpromneft-Noyabrskneftegaz, in the framework of exploration work at the Vorgen license area * in the Yamal-Nenets Autonomous District, identified two new promising clusters whose initial geological resources are estimated at 80 million tons of oil equivalent.
Until 2025, the company’s specialists will conduct 3D seismic exploration and prospecting and appraisal drilling to clarify the resource potential of the site.
Earlier, a geochemical survey * was performed on the Vorgen site * on an area of 7,000 square meters. km to evaluate the type of fluid (oil, gas condensate, gas). The obtained results, as well as 2D seismic data, made it possible to isolate an area of 1300 square meters. km, with the potential for more detailed study.

“Today, the Vorgen block is the largest in the portfolio of assets of Noyabrskneftegaz. The determination of oil-bearing circuits will make it possible to increase the success of exploratory drilling and accelerate the subsequent development of this territory, which will become an important factor in the further development of not only our enterprise, but also the entire Yamal oil production. ”
Alexander ShushakovCEO of Gazpromneft-Noyabrskneftegaz
“At the Vorgen license area, for the first time in Russia, we tested our own set of technologies for geochemical surveying, which allowed us to clarify the resource base in the region. Replication of the experience of using non-seismic methods and their combination with seismic data will allow the company to increase the pace, quality and optimize the cost of exploration. “
