Growth of Gazprom’s Reserves Due to Geological Exploration Exceeded Production Volumes for the Eighteenth Year in a Row
Increase in reserves as a result of geological exploration – 529.2 billion cubic meters. m.
The largest increase is provided in the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug.
The Board of Directors of PJSC Gazprom took note of the information on the status of work to ensure the resource base, geological study of the subsoil and geological exploration.
It was noted that replenishment of the resource base through geological exploration is an important area of Gazprom’s activity. First of all, this work is aimed at effective advanced compensation of produced gas volumes. Thus, the company provides long-term opportunities for reliable gas supplies to existing and prospective consumers.
In 2022, the Gazprom Group completed over 8,000 sq. km of 3D seismic surveys, more than 48,000 m of rock were drilled, prospecting and appraisal and exploration wells were built, including on the shelves of the Barents and Kara Seas.
As a result, according to preliminary data, the increase in natural gas reserves during exploration in 2022 amounted to 529.2 billion cubic meters. Thus, for the eighteenth year in a row, the increase in reserves exceeds production volumes (in 2022 it amounted to 412.6 billion cubic meters of gas).
The largest increase in 2022 was obtained in the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug (YNAO), in particular, at the Tambeyskoye and Pestsovoye fields. In addition, last year Gazprom discovered the Seyakhinskoye gas condensate field in Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug.
Exploration work continued in Eastern Siberia and the Far East, including an increase in gas reserves at the Chayandinskoye field in Yakutia.
