  • Ildar Mukhamadeev: The Path from the “Import” Workshop to the Top Russian Oilfield Service Companies

    Ildar Mukhamadeev, director of Sistema-Service Management Company LLC, member of the board of TAGRAS Holding, congratulated the team on the anniversary, recalled the key historical milestones in the formation of the enterprises of the group of companies and shared plans for growth and business development.

    “- Ildar Rustamovich, in 2023 the staff of the Sistema-Service Group of Companies celebrates the 15th anniversary of its foundation. What is the meaning of this date?

    – This is not just another anniversary – this is a special chronology, woven from many events, successes and everyday life, tasks and results. This is a certain starting point when we can give an objective assessment of our labor and social activities, correct actions and determine the vector of further development.

    Today, the Sistema-Service group of companies is a modern, technological enterprise with a huge production and technical potential and highly qualified personnel, making a worthy contribution to the development of the oil industry of the Republic of Tatarstan and the Russian Federation.

    The group of companies includes the management company, Service NPO LLC, RINPO LLC, Perekryvatel LLC and Tatneft-Kabel LLC.

    – Can you remember how the history of the company began?

    – Certainly. The seventies of the last century entered the history of Tatarstan as a period of rapid growth in the mechanized extraction of black gold. It was at that time that the country received the first hundred million tons of Tatarstan oil. In 1973, the Ministry of Oil Industry of the USSR purchased from the American company REDA 850 sets of electric submersible pumps (ESPs) for the oil regions of the country. The specialists of PO TATNEFT were considered to be the most prepared for maintenance and repair tasks. Therefore, it was decided to organize maintenance and repair of imported equipment in Almetyevsk. A new shop was created, which was popularly called “imported”.

    In 1976, the Almetyevsk Central Base for Production Services for the rental and repair of electric submersible installations (ATsBPO EPU) appeared. The active use of technical innovations in the operation and repair of oilfield equipment allowed ACBPO EPU to achieve high performance in production, improve the quality of services and production culture.

    In 2008, within the framework of the program to reform the internal oil production service unit, ACBPO EPU was renamed into Sistema-Service Management Company LLC and became part of the TAGRAS oilfield service holding.

    This is already history. And in the present, the production sites of our enterprises are located in almost all cities of the southeast of Tatarstan, in the Republic of Udmurtia and in the Khanty-Mansiysk Autonomous Okrug.

    – You noted that the group of companies includes the management company Sistema-Service and four subsidiaries – Service NPO, RINPO, Perekryvatel and Tatneft-Cable. What do companies specialize in?

    – Service NPO LLC provides customers with service of all types of electric submersible pump units (UEPS), pumps for maintaining reservoir pressure of the CNS type, plunger pumping units (PNA) and horizontal pumping units.

    The key specialization of RINPO LLC is the repair and manufacture of oilfield equipment for oil production, pumps for the pressure maintenance system.

    LLC “Perekryvatel” is engaged in the production of equipment for local casing of wells, provides a comprehensive service for the development of PDC bits and hydraulic downhole motors in the process of drilling wells.

    The production of submersible cable and cable products is carried out by Tatneft-Kabel LLC. The company also carries out major repairs of cables for submersible electrical installations.

    I emphasize that the interaction of all enterprises in the group of companies is based on a unified policy in the field of rental and repair of oilfield equipment, the development and improvement of manufactured products and the concentration of engineering and technical resources.

    – What would you call the main achievement of Sistema-Service Group over the past years?

    – Over the past years, we have managed to get stronger, to become one of the most promising and efficient enterprises of the TAGRAS Holding. We are growing every year. In 2022, revenue increased by 16% and reached 10 billion rubles.

    Sistema-Service is a multiple winner of a number of all-Russian and republican competitions and awards for high production and economic efficiency and significant results in improving product quality.

    Active implementation of programs and projects during this period required great personal responsibility of each employee of the company. Positive results became possible thanks to the cohesion and high skill of our team. I see this as our key achievement. And I sincerely thank each employee for their reliability, selfless work and initiative.

    – More than 240 customers use the products and services of Sistema-Service Group of Companies. What allowed the company from Tatarstan to become one of the largest suppliers in Russia and take a strong position in the CIS countries?

    – Of course, our rich experience and competence. We have taken the course of comprehensive development, systematically implementing large-scale projects outside of Tatarstan – in the republics of Komi, Udmurtia and Bashkortostan, in the Volgograd, Orenburg, Samara and Ulyanovsk regions, in the Yamalo-Nenets and Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Districts.

    Among our customers are market leaders such as Rosneft, Tatneft, NNK, Neftisa. For oil and gas companies, safety, high-quality equipment that meets international standards, high-quality service and reliable products are extremely important. Without exaggeration, Sistema-Service is able to provide all this.

    Our enterprises have repeatedly become laureates and diploma winners of a number of all-Russian and republican competitions and awards: “The Best Goods of the Republic of Tatarstan”, the national award “Economic Support of Russia”, “Leader in the number of productive jobs”, “100 best goods of Russia”. The activity was highly appreciated by the award of two government awards at once: the Russian Federation for achieving significant results in the field of product and service quality, ensuring their safety, as well as for the introduction of highly effective quality management methods and the Government of the Republic of Tatarstan award for quality.
    We really appreciate and are proud of the recognition from customers and partners, we are aimed at strengthening the results and raising the bar. First of all, for themselves. Otherwise, there will be no development and growth.

    – In terms of business growth and development, what projects are you focusing on?

    – Since 2021, we have been implementing a project for the comprehensive maintenance of ESPs in Western Siberia. To fulfill contractual obligations to the customer, a separate subdivision “System-Service-Raduzhny” was created as part of Service NPO LLC, based on the territory of the Khanty-Mansiysk Autonomous Okrug. A separate subdivision includes a service shop and a repair shop for oil submersible and surface ESP equipment. A production base for the repair of equipment has been equipped and put into operation. Definitely, we see prospects for business development in this region.

    I also consider a number of other implemented projects to be successful. For example, we organized a site for the manufacture and repair of PDC bits; launched several new industries – foundry, machining of ESP working bodies, stamping production of stator sheets and SEM rotor packages. Acquired new production lines and equipment.

    Let me emphasize that our company is systematically increasing investments. In the last year alone, investment volumes increased 2.2 times and exceeded 1.2 billion rubles. The implementation of new investment projects allows us to optimize costs, increase efficiency and organize production and services in new territories.

    – And what processes in terms of growth and development take place within the company?

    – One of the key programs is the comprehensive digital transformation of enterprises. We implement information systems for production, procurement, property and sales management. We pay special attention to business planning and budgeting, financial management.

    In addition, the company implements programs aimed at developing employees, maintaining team spirit and team cohesion. For example, we regularly hold a competition of professional skills, gatherings of masters and rating of workshops. Based on the results of each year, we necessarily form a rating of managed companies in the field of industrial safety and labor protection.

    We support initiative and innovation. In the last year alone, 1688 rationalization proposals, inventions and utility models were used in production, 955 of our employees became the authors of the proposals.

    – Ildar Rustamovich, thousands of people are under your leadership. This is a huge responsibility and a difficult task: to attract and develop employees – a key business asset. Today, in order to retain employees, it is also important to systematically improve working and rest conditions, to offer a hefty social package…

    – Absolutely agree. We systematically invest in improving the working conditions of workers and employees. Among the permanent tasks are the improvement of territories, the overhaul and current repairs of administrative buildings and workshops, amenity, office and industrial premises, engineering systems. As part of one of the projects – to improve the power supply to the base of Perekryvatel LLC in the city of Aznakaevo – we even built a new power line.

    As for recreation and social benefits, the trade union plays a significant role in our company. The trade union committee supervises questions of social and household character. Social benefits of the Collective Agreement are provided to all employees and pensioners of the company. Financial assistance is provided for treatment, for vacations, for the birth of children, ritual expenses, on March 8, upon retirement, on the occasion of an anniversary, on the Day of the Elderly, the Day of the Disabled, a quarterly oil pension is paid. In addition, social paid leave is provided in cases of the birth of children, marriage registration, and childcare. Apartments are allocated on a social mortgage.

    We pay serious attention to the prevention and health improvement of employees – vouchers are provided to sanatoriums and children’s health-improving institutions. For the leisure of workers and their families, there is a recreation center “Kama”. Sports and amateur performances are supported.

    – Ildar Rustamovich, how do you see the future of Sistema-Service Group of Companies?

    – Sistema-Service is a dynamically developing company. Each of our employees is part of a close-knit team. Together we are implementing a strategic development program for our enterprises, designed until 2030, and aim to increase labor productivity, create competitive, market-demanded products and services, go abroad with export supplies and actively develop in Russia in order to become one of the three leading companies in the oilfield services market countries.

    – The celebration of the 15th anniversary of Sistema-Service Group of Companies coincides with another important professional holiday…

    – Right. And I wholeheartedly congratulate the current employees and veterans of Sistema-Service Group of Companies on the Day of Oil and Gas Industry Workers! For many decades, the oil and gas industry has been setting the pace of economic development for our entire vast country, pursuing an active social policy, paying great attention to supporting healthcare, education, culture, sports, aesthetic education of children and youth, and allocating significant funds to charity.

    On the first Sunday of September we celebrate our professional holiday. Oilman’s Day is an event that brings together true masters of their craft, brave and strong-willed people who can overcome obstacles and solve complex problems.
