INK: Entered the TOP-10 Rating for Environmental Transparency with the World Wildlife Fund
Irkutsk Oil Company LLC took ninth place in the Eurasian rating of environmental transparency of oil and gas companies in 2021, which is held by the World Wildlife Fund ( WWF ) . In comparison with the 2020 rating, INC has moved up two positions.
The project is organized with the support of the European Union. An online presentation of the results took place on November 30, 2021. The rating includes 22 Russian oil and gas companies, as well as 14 enterprises from Kazakhstan and two from Azerbaijan. In 2021, the global sustainable development agenda has rapidly intensified, including in Russia.
According to the WWF press service , the rating experts presented not only the final analysis, but also studied the dynamics over 8 years of its existence. An analysis of the final scores of companies in Russia and Kazakhstan revealed two stable clusters – “transparent” and “non-transparent”.
The “transparent” cluster includes the companies in the top half of the rating, which actively disclose environmentally significant information in the proper amount. At the same time, there is practically no movement from an “opaque” to a “transparent” cluster.
The World Wildlife Fund (WWF) is one of the largest independent international conservation organizations, uniting about 5 million permanent supporters and working in more than 100 countries. Since 2013 – organizer of the Eurasian rating of environmental transparency of oil and gas companies. The purpose of the rating is to help reduce the burden on the environment and conduct a socially responsible business.
LLC Irkutsk Oil Company (INK) is one of the largest independent producers of hydrocarbons in Russia. The company was founded in 2000 and conducts geological studies, exploration and development of 52 subsoil plots in the Irkutsk Region, Krasnoyarsk Territory and the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia). The largest investment project of INK is a gas chemical cluster, which includes facilities for the extraction, treatment, transportation and processing of gas, the Irkutsk Polymer Plant, as well as 2 helium plants.
