Innovations for the Fuel and Energy Sector: the Gazprom Neft Hydraulic Fracturing Simulator is Included in the Register of Russian Programs of the Ministry of Digital Development
The digital simulator “CyberGRP” developed by Gazprom Neft and its partners is included in the Unified Register of Russian programs for electronic computers and databases. Registration in the Ministry of Digital Development registry confirms the high reliability and security of the program from digital threats, as well as independence from foreign solutions.
Hydraulic fracturing (fracturing) is one of the key methods for increasing oil recovery from subsoil. The technology involves creating a system of controlled fractures in underground rocks through which oil enters the well. The “CyberGfracturing” simulator simulates the processes of fracture formation and offers optimal scenarios for geological operations. Thanks to the program, specialists can predict the effect of hydraulic fracturing, control all stages of hydraulic fracturing, and analyze its results. Together with other Gazprom Neft digital tools, the technology significantly increases the efficiency of hydrocarbon production.
Since 2018, Gazprom Neft specialists have carried out more than 6,000 hydraulic fracturing operations using Cyber Hydraulic Fracturing in fields with different geological conditions. The program reproduces the characteristics of fractures when modeling underground operations up to 20% more accurately than foreign analogues, and is capable of increasing the increase in hydrocarbon production from a well by up to 5%.
Today, CyberGRP is already used by 12 Russian oil and oil service companies. Another 17 organizations are testing the product.
As part of the large-scale domestic program of the Ministry of Industry and Trade for import substitution, work continues on the creation of a Russian hydraulic fracturing fleet – a complex of equipment and special equipment. “CyberGRP” will become one of the digital solutions that will accompany the operation of domestic equipment.
The register of Russian software of the Ministry of Digital Development also includes a number of other Gazprom Neft software products, including the Seismic Digital Twin, the Industrial Safety Digital Partner, the ERA: ISKRA field development design system and others. In total, 17 Gazprom Neft software products are included in the register today.
“Hydraulic fracturing is one of the most popular and technologically complex operations in the oil and gas industry. To maximize the efficiency of hydraulic fracturing, it is necessary to carry out multi-stage calculations and simulate underground operations in specialized programs. We use algorithms that increase the accuracy of calculations compared to analogues. Moreover, our software was developed by domestic specialists. Registration of “CyberGRP” in the Register allowed us to further verify the quality of our solutions and their independence from foreign components,” Alexey Vashkevich – Director for Technological Development at Gazprom Neft.
