Iran Has Begun Development of the Tus Gas Field in the Northeast of the Country
According to NIOC CEO Mohsen Khojastemehr, eight new wells will be drilled at a cost of $200 million.
General Director of the National Iranian Oil Company (NIOC) Mohsen Khojastemehr announced the start of development of the Tus gas field, which is located in the Razavi Khorasan province in the northeast of the republic. Shana agency reported this.
“One of NIOC’s most important plans to ensure sustainable gas supply in the northeast of the country is the development of the Tus gas field,” he said at the ceremony to launch the field’s development. “With the approval of the NIOC Board of Directors, development of the Tus gas field has officially begun with a daily production of 3 million cubic meters,” he added.
According to Khojastemehr, during the development, eight new wells will be drilled at a cost of $200 million. It is planned that at the second stage, gas production per day will be 5 million cubic meters.
The Tus gas field is located approximately 100 km northeast of the city of Mashhad, the capital of Razavi Khorasan province. The field was discovered in 2008, its reserves are estimated at more than 60 billion cubic meters. m of gas.
