Iran Reports Production of 241 Billion Cubic Meters of Gas This Year
Deputy head of the Pars oil and gas company Salman Khazai on Wednesday announced the production of 241 billion cubic meters of gas at the South Pars field in the current Iranian year 1401 (started on March 21, 2022).
Speaking at the opening ceremony of the 14th phase of the South Pars field, Khazai said that 70% of the world’s fossil fuel reserves are located in the Persian Gulf.
Khazai noted that 700,000 barrels of gas condensate are produced daily at this joint field. “450,000 barrels of this is sent to the Persian Gulf Star refinery to produce the gasoline the country needs,” he added.
The South Pars field is the largest gas field in the world, located on the border of Qatar and Iran. It is one of the main energy sources containing about 51 trillion cubic meters of natural gas and 7.9 billion cubic meters of natural gas condensate. The gas field covers an area of 9,700 square kilometers, of which 3,700 square kilometers are located in Iranian territorial waters.
